Q、What’s the history of Hsinchu County?
A:Hsinchu was called “Chuchan”in the ancient time. It was the residential area for the former Pingpu tribe “Chuchan society.”
Taiwan was included under the Ching empire territory in 1684 A.D. during the Ching dynasty. Chuchan was assigned under the jurisdiction of Lou County and Han people started cultivating here.
Taiwan was reclaimed by China on August 15, 1945. The Hsinchu City government was established in November of the same year. Currently, this county governs a total of one city, three towns and nine townships.
