Since 1991, because of the significant population increase caused by socioeconomic structural changes in Hsinchu County, the total population of Hsinchu city and county has rocketed with the addition of nearly 10,000 new residents in Hsinchu County.(Population Statistics) The population in Hsinchu County grew very slowly in the earlier era. However, it showed a rapid growing momentum since 1989, making it tied with Taoyuan and Taichung as the three major fastest-growing metropolitan areas. The urban planning in northern Hsinchu and the designated areas of the six High Speed Rail stations especially pose attraction. When one looks forward to the impact of the related future plans, the city’s population is rapidly growing.
